Abstract

This Community Service activity focuses on repairing inadequate livestock pens in Gampong Bakoy, Aceh Besar, Indonesia. Traditional methods of raising cattle are common in the area, resulting in low productivity and the need for additional sources of income. Substandard pen conditions interfere with the comfort and health of livestock, which causes disease outbreaks and bad odors. Inadequate pen construction also affected cattle weight gain, extending the rearing period from 6 to 12-15 months. To address these challenges, this proposal aims to rehabilitate the livestock pens in Gampong Bakoy. The five selected beneficiaries who are categorized as poor and underprivileged will each receive a cowshed rehabilitation facility worth IDR 7 million. By improving housing conditions, this initiative aims to increase livestock productivity, prevent disease, and ensure animal welfare. This research underscores the importance of meeting the technical requirements of livestock pens, including animal health standards, ventilation, protection against climatic factors and theft, and minimal environmental impact. By implementing these enhancements, the project seeks to improve the livelihoods of selected beneficiaries and create sustainable and healthier cattle-rearing practices in Gampong Bakoy, Ingin Jaya District, Aceh Besar District.
