Abstract

The cultivation of fish using an aquaponic approach has emerged as a promising alternative for maximizing fish production while utilizing plant waste nutrients for fish growth. However, in practice, the scale and mobility of fish tanks can be limiting factors in the development of ornamental fish aquaponics farms. This endeavor aims to address these constraints by implementing the Portable Fish Tank (PFT) system as a solution for the development of ornamental fish aquaculture. The method involves design, prototype fabrication, field implementation, and performance analysis stages. The PFT prototype is designed for easy mobility and integration with the existing aquaponic system on the farm. During field implementation, the PFT integration into the aquaponic system enhances fish tank mobility and facilitates a more optimal environmental setup. Fish growth in the PFT reaches levels comparable to those in conventional aquaponic fish tanks. Water quality within the PFT is also maintained with appropriate environmental parameters for fish growth. In conclusion, the use of the Portable Fish Tank (PFT) system in fish farming has a positive impact on the development of ornamental fish aquaculture. The PFT effectively addresses mobility and tank scale challenges while maintaining fish growth performance and environmental quality. Thus, the PFT holds the potential to be a promising alternative for advancing the fish farming industry on a larger scale.
