Tingkat Partisipasi Sivitas Akademik dalam Kegiatan Workshop Upaya Pelestarian Lamun di Desa Lampageu, Aceh Besar

Abstract

Seagrass ecosystems play an important role in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems; therefore, conservation efforts require the involvement of various stakeholders, including the academic community. This activity aimed to enhance environmental awareness among the academic community through direct participation in seagrass conservation in Lampageu Village, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar Regency. The activity was conducted in three stages, namely providing educational information on the functions and importance of seagrass ecosystems, demonstrating seagrass planting techniques, and conducting direct seagrass planting practices in the sea. The participants consisted of 34 students and 11 lecturers. The activity was evaluated descriptively using a participant participation observation sheet comprising two indicators: attendance and direct involvement in the seagrass planting practice. Attendance and punctuality data were calculated based on the number and percentage of participants, while active involvement was assessed based on participants’ direct participation in the seagrass planting activity. The results showed that all 34 students and 11 lecturers attended the activity. A total of 30 students (88.24%) arrived on time, while 4 students (11.76%) arrived late. All 11 lecturers (100%) arrived on time. Regarding involvement, all participants who attended the activity directly participated in the seagrass planting practice, resulting in a 100% active involvement rate during the implementation stage. These findings indicate that seagrass planting served as a tangible form of environmental concern among the academic community while providing practical experience in conserving coastal ecosystems.
