Abstract

Indonesia is a supplier of 90% of the world's patchouli demand where Aceh patchouli is one of the producers of this commodity. Patchouli oil is widely used as a raw material for various industrial products such as perfumes, soaps, moisturizers, cleansers, and others. Through ARC-PUIPT, Aceh Patchouli has been developed using various technologies of extraction, distillation and development of other derivative products. This development is intended to provide added value to the community with a variety of innovative patchouli oil-based products. This activity aims to teach process technology and patchouli purification to the community. There are three main activities carried out, first, training on the development of innovative oil-based products, namely the introduction of patchouli oil purification technology through vacuum distillation. Second, production of perfume and provision of production equipment to partners, and third, training and assistance for branding and marketing. The activities were given to two partners, namely the Atsirina Business Group and the Aceh Heritage Patchouli Community. The results of these three activities provided knowledge and technology transfer as well as assistance to partners on how patchouli oil can be processed through purification to become hi-grade patchouli and used as a raw material to produce various products with economic value. Furthermore, partners are also taught to mix high quality perfume using purified patchouli oil. Mix it up by introducing the philosophy of perfume which involves three main compositions, namely top notes, middle notes and base notes. Finally, partners are provided with equipment, production materials, production assistance, packaging and branding. It is hoped that partners will be able to strengthen the public image of the perfume products they produce so that they can have an impact on better product marketing and ultimately be able to increase sales turnover and market expansion.
