Sosialisasi Keamanan Pangan dan Kemasan Plastik (Styrofoam) di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 2 (SMPN 2) Banda Aceh

This service activity aims to socialize students about food safety and the dangers of plastic packaging (styrofoam) used in processed food ingredients. This service activity is carried out by outreach to students of SMP Negeri 2 Kota Banda Aceh regarding the safety of processed food which is widely available around the school. The observed phenomena were explained to the students. Prior to socialization activities in the form of presentations, this community service activity begins with giving a questionnaire as a pretest. The pretest results showed that most students understood the dangers of plastic packaging when in contact with food, especially hot food, and the impact of packaging on the environment. This can be seen from the pretest scores submitted; almost 50% were able to answer the questions correctly. Posttest scores indicate that students understand more about the exposure to the dangers of styrofoam plastic packaging to the human body and the environment. Students at SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh already have a good basic understanding and can absorb the material on the dangers of styrofoam packaging in processed food, especially hot food. It is hoped that students can become smart consumers in choosing healthy snacks and bringing food from home more often to make them healthier.
